Q Marketing a Business This assignment involves doing a comparative analysis of some of the marketing strategies being used for two different product lines. They are two well-known brand name product lines that most people are somewhat familiar with: NIKE and COACH. There are four main components in the marketing mix. The previous assignment involved analyzing the Product and Promotion components of a company’s overall marketing strategy (those used by L.L. Bean) and this assignment involves analyzing the Distribution and Pricing components of the marketing mix (those used by NIKE and COACH). After doing some research on the two name brand product-lines, you will provide an analysis of the Distribution Strategies and Pricing Strategies for EACH by doing the following: Distribution Strategies 1. Describe how value is added by the producers and/or the distributors of the products. You should explain how each type of utility is created. Keep in mind that not all companies create all the types of utility. However, you should be sure to describe all the types of utility the producers and/or distributors for NIKE and COACH create with their goods, as well as who creates it and how. 2. Identify what channels are used to distribute the products. Identify all that apply for each product line. 3. Explain whether they use intensive, selective or exclusive distribution and why. If the company uses retail stores as part of their distribution strategy, indicate which store type(s) is(are) used and explain why they likely sell them in that type of retail store. Pricing Strategies 1. Determine what you think the pricing objective(s) is (are) for each brand of products and why you concluded as you did. 2. Identify and briefly describe what strategies are used to accomplish the company’s pricing objective(s).
